Abstract Organized patterns are abundant in nature and are often critical for the function of biological systems. A particularly important example is the bronchial structure of lungs, which are based on fractal patterns. The objective of this project is to examine whether fractality plays a significant role in the efficiency of oxygen transport within the lungs.
