Abstract It is predicted that approximately 2.2 billion people live with some form of vision impairment, and around 103 million people worldwide have some variant of diabetic retinopathy. Out of these 2.2 billion people, a large proportion of which (90%) live in middle-to-low income countries, where access to eye care is limited. For that reason, the purpose of this project is to create an easy, affordable and efficient diagnostic tool for diabetic retinopathy.
