Abstract The purpose of this experiment was to: 1) Extract iodine from seaweed using microwave assisted extraction and normal hot plate extraction 2) Analyze the concentration of iodine extracted using a spectrophotometer 3) Determine the relationship between individuals who eat seaweed and their iodine levels in their body, through the use of the “tincture of iodine” 4) To make individuals aware of their iodine level and treat it accordingly
