Abstract The purpose of this project was to create a new biocomposite material, known as GEMS; Graphene Enriched Mycelium Structures, and to evaluate the mechanical, fire rating and hydrophobic properties that will provide an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional building materials for Martian habitat that is environmentally friendly, easy to transport and easy to grow.
