Abstract A mnemonic is used to help people remember things in daily life, by means of, either a rhyme, song or acronym. The purpose of my study is to find out if a mnemonic can help students in elementary school easier remember a list of items. In elementary school many students need to remember lists of words, whether it is the planets or the capital cities, and my project is meant to prove how using a mnemonic (in this case, an acronym) can help someone better remember these lists. My project is also to demonstrate to educators how to creatively help their students study and retain new information. Since the brain reserves the most interesting or relative things, a mnemonic can greatly help most students to retain important information much easier.
