Abstract The Effect of Antidepressant Treatment on Brain-Derived Neurotropic Factor Levels in Serum of Female Patients with Major Depressive Disorder The purpose of this study was to compare BDNF serum concentrations of healthy controls patients to serum of patients with MDD before and after eight weeks of antidepressant treatment. The serum BDNF levels will be measured using an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The second aim is to determine whether there are any changes in BDNF serum concentration pre and post 8-week antidepressant treatment.
