Abstract The purpose of this experiment is to determine if high amounts of plant fertilizer are in Oakville’s bodies of water. Fertilizer contains nitrate and phosphate which could damage the environment through eutrophication. Eutrophication is caused by excessive plant and algal growth. Human activities have increased the rate and extent of this process by dumping extra nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus into bodies of water.
