Abstract The purpose of WindDrift is to engineer a low-cost, adaptive and autonomous, multi-domain environmental monitoring system capable of delivering real time atmospheric and marine data in under monitored regions. My platform integrates oceanic drifters for marine boundary-layer measurements and superpressurized pico balloons for tropopause sensing, each carrying modular scientific payloads. WindDrift has real-world marketability and benefits for meteorological, environmental, government and defense agencies by providing enhanced climate research, pollution monitoring and tracking.
