Abstract The purpose of this project is to investigate whether pulse variability data collected using smartphone heart rate measurement can be used as a low-cost method for early cardiac risk screening. Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death worldwide, and early detection of irregular heart patterns can improve prevention and treatment outcomes. This project aims to evaluate whether widely accessible technology, combined with machine learning analysis, can help identify abnormal heart rate recovery patterns that may indicate increased cardiac risk. The study explores the potential for everyday devices to support preventative healthcare and improve accessibility to basic health monitoring.
