Abstract The purpose of this project was to find out if an organism’s chromosome count directly affects its DNA yield. By extracting DNA from strawberries, oranges, grapes, and human cheek cells, we wanted to see if having a higher number of chromosomes leads to a larger amount of visible DNA when using the same extraction method for every sample we tested.
