Post-meal hyperglycemia in gestational diabetes significantly increases the risk of maternal and fetal complications. Although pharmacologic glucosidase inhibitors can reduce post-meal glucose spikes, such medications are not routinely used during pregnancy due to limited safety data. Amylase significantly contributes to post-meal hyperglycemia by breaking down starch into glucose, thus this study aims to explore the efficacy of matcha as a natural amylase inhibitor for hyperglycemic control. |
