Abstract The purpose of this experiment was to utilize natural occurring starches to synthesize bio-based biodegradable plastics through the processes of starch gelatinization and acid hydrolysis. To demonstrate that it is feasible to create bio-based plastics that could be substituted for conventional plastics. To test the rate of biodegradation of the synthesized bio-based plastics.
