Abstract The movements of the human intestine are orchestrated by a two dimensional network of millions of pacemaker cells (interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC)) that is present throughout the intestine. Network properties of the intestine were explored and effects of injury to the network were studied to explain physiological data and predict outcome of injury and stimulation.
