Abstract How do different genres of music affect the heart rate and blood pressure. Due to background information and research about my problem, it is indicated that a standard heart beat rate can be changed due to the tempo of the music. Since rock music tends to have a much higher tempo, rock music should indeed increase the heart rate. Also due to some more information and research on classical music, it should lower blood pressure, but could and is proven to have a higher tempo. Since classical music has a higher tempo it is proven to increase the heart rate. But the reason why classical music would lower the blood pressure is because of the soothing aspects of classical. It is proven that classical lowers blood pressure because of the soft whimsical instruments and is proven to lower stress level. Due to opinions that have been shared, 87 percent of people who were asked say that listening to classical music calms them down and often when someone encounters stressful situations, it can cause your blood pressure to spike temporarily. If classical calms and it proven to calm down people it means that it should and does lower blood pressure.
