Abstract Cadmium Selenide is a carcinogenic and expensive material used to synthesize quantum dots. The purpose of this lab is to effectively make quantum dots using simple hydrocarbons (known as carbon quantum dots) as it is more universally accessible. The effectiveness of carbon quantum dots will be determined by comparing the intensity of fluorescent light radiating and shelf life of the substance.
