Abstract The palmaris longus muscle is a vestigial feature that can be found in approximately 86% of the world human population. This muscle which is contained in people’s forearm is extremely interesting as it can be activated through hand grip based sports. This illustrates the possibility that the palmaris longus muscle could increase a person’s hand grip strength if it is heavily trained through sport. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine if a relationship between grip strength and the palmaris longus muscle exists in athletes that are involved in hand grip based sports.
