Abstract The purpose of this experiment is to investigate the different factors controlling the freezing point of a salt water solution. Different salts at different concentrations and mixed solutions will be tested to develop a mixture that is suitable for Southern Ontario winters. It may be possible to create mixtures that are suited specifically to certain temperatures without the ecologically toxic effects of traditional road salt.
