Over the past two weeks twenty students, representing Hamilton, Halton, Haldimand, Norfolk and Brant Counties, have been competing at the National and International Science Fairs, after having won trip awards at the 51st annual Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair (BASEF) this past March.
Cash, prizes and scholarships worth nearly $140,000 were awarded to student participants at BASEF 2011 on March 26th at Mohawk College. Especial congratulations to Janelle van Leeuwen, winner of the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Best-in-Fair award, and to the twenty students who won all-expense-paid trips to compete at either the Canada Wide Science Fair in Toronto or the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, California.
